Diversity and Inclusion
Wapping Hockey Club is aware of and concerned by the current issues affecting sport in general and we want to be able to listen and adapt in order to help support our sport, our community, and our members.
As a team sport, hockey benefits from being accessible to as wide a range of people as possible. Wapping HC is more than just a sports club, for many of us who are members, this is the main community to which we belong. We also recognise that as a club based in central London, our membership comprises people from all walks of life and have benefitted, and will continue to benefit from that position. This means ensuring that the club is accessible to and welcoming for all people, regardless of gender, sexuality, identity, age, race ethnicity, religion, physical ability or social background. It is not only the right thing to do but the best thing to do for our club.
We have an active D&I committee who are making this agenda a number one priority. We want to ensure our club is doing everything it can, and listening to the voices of our clubโs members and local East London community to ensure we are a welcoming and supportive club to all.
If any of our members, or those of our community, ever want to get in touch with any queries, concerns or suggestions, please feel free to do so here: wappingvcc@gmail.com. And if anyone would like to get involved with our D&I committee, please donโt hesitate to let us know. The more voices we have, the stronger we are as a club.
At Wapping we adhere to the following England Hockey policies:
Equality Policy (aimed at all actively involved in hockey)
